When I was a little girl, I had a real interest in rocks/geodes. My mom would take me to gem shows where the women would shop for different types of gems, while the little kids were able to pretend to be geologists and dig for stones. There was just something about the beautiful, shiny, polished stones that really grabbed my attention. My mother even bought a tigers eye necklace for me that day, something I still wear and cherish today. And now, years later, my interest for such beautiful stones to be worn as accessories, specifically necklaces, have taken center stage lately to the outfits I have been wearing.
In one of my earlier posts, I mentioned a company called Bourbon and Boweties. This accessories company first started with just bracelets, but since have moved on to rings and necklaces. The owner uses various stones and metals to create her jewelery. Below are just a few examples of what I have been wearing lately to accessorize my spring/summer staples.
I really love the two above because they can be worn with even the simplest of outfits. Dressed up or down, these work with almost any outfit.
The above blue gemstone necklace is versatile. One side has smooth, polished stones while the other side of the necklace shows the raw beauty of the stones.
The green necklace above is one of the newest to my collection. This may be my favorite so far!
Altuzarra
The one thing that I love the most is when Target has designers bring in a collection for this company. Altuzarra is the latest in which I found a beautiful pair of boots. Pointed, laced, and absolutely fabulous!
I can wear these with just about anything, though I personally love to wear them with dresses and skirts.
However, if I am wanting a more laid back look, I turn to these trusted boots by Candie’s. Paired with boyfriend jeans, these give me a look I love as well.
A Night Out On The Town
With the weather getting cooler, especially with my recent visit to Virginia, I pondered what to wear on a night that was dipping in the fifties. For a southern girl, temperatures in the fifties, including a brisk wind, is a cold night! However, I knew that we would be enjoying a nice dinner, and if anything the red wine would help to keep me warm. So I decided on a long sleeve, knit dress with a low collar. I paired that with a black, stylish clutch and a pair of very sexy heels. I completed my look with a motorcycle jacket to add an edgier look to my dress. That being said, not only did I feel like I looked like a million bucks, I was able to keep warm as well.
Though it exposed my toes, these heels were on point! I love them!
My clutch for the evening.
Military Jacket and Chanel Inspired Purse
Visiting Richmond, VA this weekend allowed me to play with fall looks. Here, I have my military jacket over a simple grey dress, and my favorite Chanel inspired purse. The jacket I purchased at Kohls, and the purse, my current obsession, at Express. Combining the looks gave a relaxed, stylish look and feel for a nice autumn day downtown.
Fall in Florida
Fall,a time when leaves change to beautiful shades of red and orange. The breeze in the air is brisk, and women everywhere start to break out their new fashions for the new season. That is, unless you are currently living in Florida. So what is one to do?
As I pour over the current issues of Harper’s Bazaar and Vogue, the envy of not being able to wear the latest boots, leggings, and light sweaters sets in. So, I am left to incorporate any trend into our warm weather attire whenever I can. The first is the chambray shirt with my black and white skirt. Though it may not be much to those living in cooler climates at the moment, for those of us who break out the boots in 70 degree weather we will take what we can get.
